The con behind the online petition services

If you have ever decided to try to create a change and created a petition online and rallied your friends and family into sharing, even donating to the cause, to try to get enough signatures to get lawmakers to take note, you might be unaware that those companies are not non-profit, and those donations do not go towards your cause. In fact, you will probably find hundreds, if not thousands, of similar petitions with signatures for much the same cause, also donating and signing and lining their pockets. They don't allow you to group with other petitions because where would the profit be in that if it actually worked, and the entire country united under one petition? Be careful, do your research and join existing ones and warn others not to donate to the "for-profit" vultures.
